Can I Get a Rebate for Septic Services in Western Washington?

rebate for septic services
Repairing or replacing your septic system can be expensive, especially in Washington State. However, you may not have to cover the cost alone. Your local health or environmental department may offer financial assistance or incentives for taking care of your septic tank.

Here are a few options that are available in Snohomish, King, Skagit, and Island counties.

Septic Rebates in Snohomish County

Snohomish County offers rebates for professional septic inspections and riser installations. You can also get low-interest loans for septic system repair and replacements, free maintenance education, and even grants if you are a qualifying low-income homeowner.

Through the Snohomish County Savvy Septic program, you can earn $200 in rebates. This program is funded by a Centennial Grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology, an EPA grant administered by the WA Department of Health, and the Snohomish County Public Works Surface Water Management Division.

Septic Rebates in King County

Low-income homeowners in King County residents have access to septic service loans and grants, but we are not aware of any rebate options at this time.

Craft3 loans can be used to repair or replace failing on-site sewage systems. The loans may cover the full cost of designing, permitting, installing, and maintaining your system, including connecting to a public sewer when permitted by your County. The Craft3 Clean Water Loan Program is a local nonprofit, non-bank, Community Development Financial Institution with support from the EPA and the State of Washington.

Other grants are available through the King County Housing Repair Program, which serves low- and moderate-income homeowners outside the city of Seattle. The USDA Rural Housing Service Program also provides loans to very-low-income homeowners to repair, improve, modernize, or remove health and safety hazards from their homes.

Septic Rebates in Skagit County

Skagit County offers rebates for homeowners in certain locations, such as designated Marine Recovery Areas or Sensitive Areas. You can get up to $100 for septic system inspections and $100 for installing risers and lids, or up to $200 per household. Check with Skagit County Public Health to see if you are eligible for a rebate.

Skagit County residents can also get assistance with septic system financing through the Craft3 Clean Water Loan. This loan covers the full cost of designing, permitting, and installing a septic system or can help you connect to a municipal sewer.

Septic Rebates in Island County

Homeowners in Island County can get assistance with financing septic repairs through the Regional On-Site Sewage System Loan Program (RLP).

Loans can cover the full cost of designing, permitting, installing, and maintaining your septic system at a competitive interest rate with no up-front costs. The loans are inclusive for a range of incomes and property types, including commercial and non-owner occupied.
